Description
Marshall Point Lighthouse, Port Clyde Harbor, St. George Peninsula, Knox County, Maine.
A slender lighthouse stands at the edge of a rocky shoreline, connected by a wooden walkway. Overcast skies loom above the serene coastal landscape, suggesting a tranquil yet somber atmosphere.
Situated on a scenic point of land near the village of Port Clyde, Maine, the current tower of Marshall Point Lighthouse was constructed in 1857 of brick and granite blocks, replacing the original which was built in 1832. An iconic wooden walkway supported by 3 granite block piers was the location where Forrest Grump concluded his cross country run in the eponymously named movie.
