Succulent plants are casting long shadows on a sandy surface, likely due to the low angle of the sun. The lighting emphasizes both the plants' vibrant green and reddish hues on their tips and their pointed shadows on the ground.
Carpobrotus edulis, Ice Plant, also known as Hottentot Fig, growing on sand dune on the Pacific Coast, California. Ice Plant was planted to reduce dune erosion, but is now considered an invasive species in the United States of America. It grows all along the coast of California.
