Artist's Description

Marshall Point Lighthouse, Port Clyde, Maine on a sunny, breezy summer day.

A white lighthouse stands at the end of a wooden pier, complementing the adjacent traditional white house with a green roof. The American flag and another blue flag flutter in the breeze above the well-manicured lawn that stretches down to the water's edge.

Situated on a scenic point of land near the village of Port Clyde, Maine, the current tower of Marshall Point Lighthouse was constructed in 1857 of brick and granite blocks, replacing the original which was built in 1832. An iconic wooden walkway supported by 3 granite block piers was the location where Forrest Grump concluded his cross country run in the eponymously named movie.
